Jamboree Update!

Day 3 - 28th July 2007 cont.

In the evening an opening party was held, and this featured lots of local bands, and an amazing 12 year old singer!

Day 4 - 29th July 20o7

Splash Day! We went to splash after a long coach ride, 2 hours. Splash is a hlaf days water activity! I took part in some fun raft building. This allowed us to develop team skills and meet new people.

I didn't take my camera, for fear of losing it or it getting wet.

We then waited an hour for a coach and then returned an hour later to the sub camp!

This evening has been Challenge 100, and you guessed it, it has 100 challenges to do in your unit on the camp. We managed to get 91 done, which was the highest so far. Great fun and a good way to meet people.

Blog again soon with photos!

What an amazing three days!

Hi Guys,

Sorry for lack of updates, but we only just got internet access on our hub!

So let's start from the beginning!

Day 1 - 26th Juky 2007

We set off from the City of Manchester stadium at 7.00am, and finally arrived at the Jamboree some several hours later at 1.15pm.

We then set up camp, in some very windy weather, with the added addition of a heavy rainfall! This destroyed the marquee, but hey it all looks great!

We then had a UK Contingent BBQ and party at the Tropical Hub, a good 20 minutes walk! The party included acts as Liberty X and Lemar.

That was it for the first day!

Day 2 - 27th July 2007

All the Scouts from the rest of the world are now arriving, and the day was a great opportunity to go out and meet lots of Scouts and have some fun badge trading!

That was it for Friday, the last relaxed day we have!

Day 3 - 28th July

The opening ceremony! Things kicked off with some entertainment at our Sub-camp HQ, with some music and lots of cheering!

We were then let by a kinight on a horse to the main arena to join 40,000 other Scouts, the oepning ceromony was good and involved lots f songs and entertainment. His Royal Highness Prince William opened the ceremony, although he didn't say anything, and the official world flag was parachuted in!

Then this afternoon, I managed as a YSP to get involved with a project called Scout Tube aiming to get Scout's views on to the internet through 30 second sound bites. This is fun, and will last the whole Jamboree and on! Take a look at: http://btscouttube.com/

That is it for now!

I'll blog again soon, and hopefully the weather will hold out, it is beautiful sunshine at the moment! Splash tomorrow!

Up bright and early!

Well the journey has now begun, I am up!

I leave in 40 minutes to go to the pick up point.

My next post will be from the Jamboree itself, after a coach ride and probably not till tomorrow.

So have fun, and I'm off to grab some breakfast!

The Journey is soon to begin!

Well I am now all packed and ready to go!

We set off at 7am tomorrow morning from Manchester City Football Stadium...

I am looking forward to the next two weeks, and from members of IST already down there it's looking good!

Also, keep your eye on the 'Short updates via Twitter' on the right. This allows me to make short posts from my phone!
